About the organization

What does AL Sadat Ghayas Dastarkhuwan Welfare Organization do?

We are a Karachi-based welfare organization founded in 2020. We provide free daily hot meals (Dastarkhuwan), monthly ration packs, Ramzan iftar and sehri, winter relief, emergency response and education support to families in need across Karachi and Pakistan.

Is the organization registered?

Yes. We are registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in Sindh, Pakistan. Registration and NTN details are listed on our About page — real numbers will replace the placeholders once verification is uploaded.

Where do you operate?

Our daily meal service and monthly ration program run in Karachi across 42 areas. For emergencies — floods, fires, evacuation situations — we respond across Sindh in coordination with local partners.

Who runs the organization?

A small board of trustees plus a management team. The bulk of the work — around 300 active volunteers — is unpaid. Names, roles and photos are on the About page.

Donations & Zakat

How can I donate?

Bank transfer, JazzCash, Easypaisa, cheque, or in person at our office. Full details on the donate page. After transfer, WhatsApp us the screenshot on 0311-1285111 for confirmation.

Is my donation Zakat-eligible?

Yes. We maintain a dedicated Zakat bank account, kept separate from general donations. Zakat funds are disbursed only to Shariah-eligible mustahiqeen — primarily through our ration and cash-assistance programs.

How is my donation spent?

Every donation is tied to a program: daily meals, ration, Ramzan, winter, emergency response or education. You can specify a program when you send us the receipt, or let us allocate it where need is greatest that month. Quarterly reports show the breakdown.

Do you take administrative overhead from donations?

Zakat funds carry zero overhead. General donations may absorb a small share of operational cost (kitchen fuel, delivery, storage rent), disclosed line-by-line in the quarterly report.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes. Send us the transfer screenshot on WhatsApp or email, mention if you need a formal letterhead receipt, and we'll issue it within 24 working hours.

Can I donate from outside Pakistan?

Yes. Email donate@alsadatghayas.org before transferring so we can guide you on the right currency account (USD, GBP, AED, SAR) and SWIFT details.

Beneficiaries & programs

How do I nominate a family for ration support?

Message our UAN on WhatsApp (0311-1285111) with the family's contact and area. Our field team will visit within a week; enrolment depends on verified household need.

Who qualifies for your ration program?

Households below the Nisab threshold, particularly widow-headed, disabled-headed, or households with a chronically ill primary earner. Every family is visited and verified before enrolment. We adjust criteria per household size.

Is anyone turned away from the daily Dastarkhuwan?

No. The daily hot-meal service has no documentation, no queue-jumping, no vetting. Whoever comes hungry, sits down and eats. That's the rule.

Do you help with medical, education, or debt cases?

Yes, on a case-by-case basis and through Zakat funds. Education support and school kits run annually for children of ration families. Medical and debt cases are reviewed individually.

Volunteering

How do I volunteer?

Fill out the sign-up form on our Volunteer page or message us on WhatsApp. We'll add you to the roster and get in touch about the next kitchen shift or packing session.

Do I need to be Muslim to volunteer?

No. Anyone who shares the mission is welcome. Our beneficiaries include people of all backgrounds — our volunteers do too.

Can I volunteer with my company / school group?

Yes. Group volunteering days (ration packing, meal serving, iftar drives) are one of the most fun ways to help. Email volunteer@alsadatghayas.org and we'll schedule.

Transparency

Do you publish accounts?

Yes — quarterly, in plain numbers with program-wise breakdowns. Annual audit reports are prepared by an external chartered accountant and posted on the About page.

How do I know the money reaches families?

Photographs and short videos of ration deliveries and meal service go out weekly on Instagram and Facebook (with beneficiary consent). Donors are welcome to come along on a delivery to see the operation firsthand — just let us know.

What if I want to fund a specific area or family?

Get in touch. We can arrange sponsored ration streams for a specific area or a specific set of families with reporting only for you. This is common with corporate partners.
